Zurakaro is a sacred space to escape from the hustle & bustle of the busy city centre. You are invited to leave the mayhem of modern day living at the door and join us on a journey to inner-peace, health & happiness.
WHAT DOES 'ZURAKARO' MEAN?
There wasn't a word to describe what we do, so we made one up.
It's pronounced: Sir Rack Arrow. ZURA is a Sanskrit word meaning 'warrior for good'. KARO is from the from the Japanese word Kokaro; meaning 'heart-mind'.
You can experience 'Zurakaro' from the moment you enter the studio because we teach for a good cause and we teach from the heart, creating a unique, friendly community.
Zurakaro was founded by The Gentle Rebel when he realised there are many people becoming interested in the subjects he has studied for over 20 years and that Birmingham didn't have a home for these people.
Our founder said: "We live in a world technically more connected than ever, yet socially we are becoming increasingly disconnected and divided. Yoga and martial arts are both ancient practices. These arts provided our ancestors with meaning, purpose and discipline leading to inner-peace, health and happiness. I believe (and many students have experienced) that these ancient teachings are more relevant now than ever."
There's an eclectic range of classes, events and workshops for your mind, body and soul. Experience everything from yoga, movement, martial arts, mindfulness & sound therapy, through to art & creative projects, nutrition and teacher training.
We also host amazing teachers and influencers from around the world.
